I applied for the ‘Work and Travel’ program in the United States for the first time in the summer of 2018. I got a visa and went to work in Myrtle Beach in South Carolina where the temperatures were around 40 degrees Celsius all summer.
I got a job at a Starbucks Cafe, the job was very interesting and in constant contact with tourists and this helped me improve my English.
It was a great experience in which students get to know everyday problems and solve them on their own, meet new people from all over the world, and at the end of the program everyone arranges a trip to famous cities across the US.

The following summer, 2019, I applied again, but for a place quite the opposite of the previous year, the city of Anchorage in Alaska with temperatures around 15 degrees Celsius.
This year I was working in one of Alaska’s biggest ‘RV trip’ attractions, we were in charge of the maintenance of those recreational vehicles. Tourists from all over the world came to vacation in beautiful Alaska and rented those recreational vehicles to travel through the beautiful Alaskan highlands.
Just like the previous year, I got to know many cultures from all around the world, made new friendships with students from Asia, Europe, South America.
I recommend the ‘Work and Travel’ program to every student because this program introduces you to other countries’ lifestyles and you get the opportunity to tour many of the famous cities in the United States.
